In the 40s and 50s I used to live in Woodfield House Temple Cloud: I now live in Perth in Western Australia. My mother used to send me to the bakers in Clutton and if I had time I would always stop to play at what we called ‘the dumps’, galloping up and down the hillocks pretending to be my hero at the time… Roy Rodgers. Heading towards Clutton it was probably about halfway between the villages on the left hand side. I have often wondered what caused all the mounds, which used to be not only a great place to play, but a wonderful place to find dainty Hair Belles Cowslips and so on. Coming across your image gallery, it set me wondering if anyone would know anything about this area: I would love to know it’s history. Hoping to hear from you sometime. Best Regards April May.

We would like to take the opportunity to remind people that at this time of year it is customary to see a rise in the number of reported distraction burglaries. Rogue trader incidents decrease due to the darker days and colder weather, but these criminals then commit distraction burglaries taking advantage of the elderly and vulnerable in their own homes. Bath & North East Somerset has experienced very low levels of distraction burglary over the last couple of years, but neighbouring areas have recently had some crimes of this type. ‘Water’ related excuses are still the most common way to gain entry into people’s homes.

Please be extra vigilant on behalf of elderly/vulnerable neighbours and do not hesitate to call the Police if you are suspicious of any door to door callers.
