Wilson
I am looking for information about relatives that lived in the Clutton area in the 1860s. My great grandmother and several of her siblings births were registered at Clutton. Julian Ann Wilson b1863, Gabriel Wilson b1865, Clara Elizabeth Wilson b1867 and Louisa Wilson b1859. Their parents were Sidmond Wilson (born c1830) and his wife Betsy (born c1835). They had several other children but it is likely they were born elsewhere. Sidmond was a gas fitter and died after 1871. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Pamela
Young or Bridges
I am interested in the family of Melinda Young who married Henry Bridges in 1841. Melinda was born in High Littleton in 1821, Henry in Timsbury in 1820. Henry was a coal miner, and they both lived all their lives in Clutton. They are my gt gt gt grandparents.
Any information would be welcome!
Wall
I am searching for any information about Rose Wall born 1830 Clutton possibly the daughter of William and Mary Wall, and sister to Leah Wall. Rose was my Gt Gt Grandmother. It is possibly she moved to Wales as I have noticed many Wall’s mentioned in the 1841 and 1851 Welsh census having moved from Clutton – presumably for the mining. Any help would be appreciated

Westlake
This is a brilliant website -well done!!!
I live in Perth, Western Australia and am the widow of William Westlake of Bristol, son of William Westlake, origin unknown but most certainly from the West Country. My late husband was born in Bristol 6th July 1948, son of William Frederick Westlake of Bristol (b. 23 oct 1902), married Doris June 1927. He served on HMS Valiant,Hood, Dartmouth, and Queen Elizabeth in the Royal Merchant Navy.
When I say I am tracing, that is not strictly true, as I have only just had a whim and begun seraching today and was led to your site. It feels right!!!
You have to start somewhere don’t you?
My son (William Westlake – hard to believe I know!) and I will be visiting UK next year and would love to know if anyone in Clutton has any knowledge of our family. We will visit anyway as your website has made the prospect irrestistable!
Hope to hear from you.
Regards
Jayne Westlake
Whittock
I’ve traced back my family to the Whittock family who lived in Clutton for many generations. My Great Great Great Grandfather Benjamin Whittock was a miner and according to the census of 1861 and 1871 lived in 3 Halls Cottages, Clutton. I wondered if these still existed or if any of the wonderful old pictures on this site would happen to be of them?? His son Frederick Whittock was also a miner.
thank you so much for your help
